Visit of Swiss School students to the WTO

Students of the International Law and Comparative Law and International Finance and Investment Management programmes visited the World Trade Organisation (WTO), where they listened to a lecture on the main activities of this important international structure.

The excursion began with an introductory speech of the WTO representative, who told about the history of the organisation, its mission and role in ensuring free and fair trade between countries. Special attention was paid to the mechanisms of trade dispute resolution, development of international trade rules and support for developing countries.

The lecture also covered current challenges facing the WTO, including the impact of the pandemic on international trade, protectionism and the role of digitalisation.

In addition, participants were presented with real case examples of cases that had been dealt with at the WTO, allowing students to see how theoretical knowledge was applied in practice.

The visit to the WTO was an important step in the students’ educational programme, allowing them to get a closer look at the work of one of the key institutions of global governance. Such events help not only to broaden students’ horizons, but also to form their practical vision of working in the international environment, which is an integral part of training high-level specialists.
