Summer School 2023

From June 30 to July 9, the Swiss School for International Relations hosted a Summer School for students.

The main focus of the school was intensive study of Legal English. The course allows to develop skills and abilities to navigate freely in English-language literature in the field of international public and private law. Moreover, within the framework of this course the participants applied their theoretical knowledge at practical master classes on drafting model contracts and writing NDAs.

On the first academic day, students attended an introductory lecture on the Law of International Organisations, during which students learned about the peculiarities of the functioning of the United Nations, as well as the specialised agencies of the UN.

On July 2, a trip to Bern took place, where participants visited the Parliament of the Swiss Confederation and took a sightseeing tour of the old city. The year 2023 marks the 175th anniversary of the Swiss Constitution, so the visit to the Parliament was dedicated to the history of the creation of the Constitution. The most memorable moment for the participants was the speech of the President of the Swiss Confederation — Alain Berset.

For most participants, the Summer School in Geneva was an unforgettable experience. They not only acquired new knowledge, but also broadened their horizons, made new friendships and got acquainted with the culture and traditions of the Swiss Confederation. The summer school left incredible impressions and inspired them to further learning and self-development.
