About the Program

Studies are aimed at training unique international experts in sustainable development and climate agenda, environmental economics, natural resources management, environmental economics, environmental policy and law for the fuel and energy complex and other spheres of activity.

Leading experts from Switzerland and Europe, practitioners, employees of international organizations, top managers and entrepreneurs are involved in the teaching process. Students daily gain knowledge and communicate with outstanding professionals with high qualifications and vast practical experience.

Graduates of the program work for major international organizations on the climate agenda, as well as for fuel and energy companies. These are specialists who on the one hand have a complete set of knowledge on climate, ecology and environmental management, and on the other hand have received first-class training in environmental economics, international climate and environmental policy, environmental law and management.

Such education is extremely in demand in the corporate sector.

Curriculum

The program is a unique synthesis of humanities and science disciplines.

In Geneva, the teaching of core courses (including lectures and seminars by foreign professors, representatives of international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Meteorological Organization, as well as practitioners, partners of consulting firms) is conducted in English.

The curriculum is organized on a modular basis with a study of a subject for a few weeks followed by a pass/fail or exam. Simultaneously with core courses, English and French | German are taught intensively by native speaking teachers.

Foreign Languages

An integral part of the professional training of any modern specialist is the study of foreign languages.

Alongside with the core subjects, students study intensively English and French | German taught by native speaking instructors.

The training system allows students to take international certification exams without additional preparation.

Our classrooms are kept small — with 6-8 students – to ensure an individual approach to each student and provide the best conditions for high-quality language training.

Throughout their studies in Geneva, students study English intensively using methods developed by experts in international language training, leading professors of Swiss School, reaching the final C1 / C2 level. Students with initially high language level have the opportunity to study with native speakers in C1 / C2 groups.

During the course, much attention is given to translation of economic texts, commercial correspondence, and the basics of business communication. Teaching is focused on taking advantage of the modern methods, in which the business English curricula are closely coordinated with and complement the core courses.

French language skills are essential for anyone who intends to get involved in diplomacy and international relations, because French is an official language of the United Nations, the European Union, and most international organizations.

The German Chair has extensive experience and tradition in training international specialists with a professional command of German. Students study using modern textbooks that preserve the achievements of the old school but reflect new trends.

The main purpose of this course is to teach you how to write the basic documents needed to find an internship or job (resume, cover letter), how to go through the various stages of the interview, the process of analyzing a potential employer.

Accommodation in Switzerland

Variety of options available in the center of Geneva, as well as in the area of ​​​​international organizations: on campuses or in studios and apartments.

The Henri Dunant campus is located in the center of Geneva, a 7-minute walk from the Premises. The building houses a laundry, as well as a grocery store.

CityPop Apartments are 2 minutes from the Premises.

Visa Support and Residence Permit

To stay in Switzerland for studies lasting more than 90 days, a student non-resident of the EU is required to obtain an entry national study visa.

The presence of an entry study visa entitles the student to obtain a residence permit in Switzerland once in Geneva.

Swiss School staff will assist you with paperwork regarding your visa request and book for you an appointment at the Swiss Embassy.

Internships

Internships are a mandatory element of the educational process and an opportunity to apply and consolidate acquired knowledge in professional activities. Program students have a unique opportunity to undertake internships in Switzerland and Europe.

During their studies, students meet with practitioners and visit numerous international organizations.

Students have a unique opportunity to combine deep theoretical training with practical activity, passing pre-degree internship in corporate sphere, in international organizations, transnational corporations, in the largest companies and foundations.

Students explore the modern structure of the nature management of several European countries of the prealpine region, their cultural-historical, tourist-recreational and industrial peculiarities. All this makes it possible to master practical research methods in the field of rational use of natural resources, legal and economic aspects of the established system of nature management; study of historical, natural and socio-economic factors, which determined the features of the established environmental policy.

Graduates of the program master the skills to participate in international negotiations, including in a foreign language, to plan and accompany international projects in various spheres of activity, to argue their point of view and find compromise solutions, to be able to work in a team and take the lead.
